How to Make a Felt Strawberry

Its hard trying to find good birthday present ideas. So when I went shopping to find her some play food I found that the food was cheaply made and expensive. While inspecting the food I realized that it wouldn't be hard to make it myself. So I went home and created this felt strawberry.

First you will want to cut a circle out of red felt and fold it in half as seen in picture 2.
Then you will want to sew the straight end shut with red thread.
Now turn the felt right side out and take black thread and sew seeds on it.
Stuff with cotton and sew the top shut.
Next cut a top out of green felt and sew it on.
Now you have your own felt strawberry for your children to play with!

Hand Made Banner

Recently my parents celebrated their 28th Anniversary. I really wanted to decorate the house, but I could not find a banner that said Happy Anniversary. So I took scrapbook paper, card stock, and cream colored computer paper and made a banner. I chose the font I liked and printed it out on cream colored paper. Now the hard part is cutting the circles and gluing them on to scrapbook and colored card stock. I attached them together with tape on the back and on the front where they are overlapping I used a glue stick to make sure it was secure.

Brother's Bedroom

My brother' room turned out perfect. I cost me nothing to paint his room. While the pictures do not do the wall color justice I thought I would post them anyway. We had left over dutch boy paint from Menards and the color was called bamboo. In reality it was more of a sand color. The first picture is a lamp my dad my for him and the rest are just stuff in his room. I think that this was a successful room remodel!

Lemon Cake

With spring almost here I always look for desserts that that have a lighter flavor. The cake I made here is a lemon cake (I used box mix and frosting). I simply frosted the cake and added a shell border (tip 21). To top it off I twisted a slice of lemon and added mint leaves. Although I did not do this last time I would suggest refrigerating your cake.

Before Cutting For Locks of Love

Even though I am in my pajamas I will post the pictures of me before I cut my hair for locks of love. My hair is short now and I ended up donating 10 inches. Once I find time to get my hair done (probably for Easter) I will post the after pictures. With finals I don't have time to flat iron my hair.

Flower Wreath

As a child I always love how the little girls in television shows could make a dandelion wreath for their head. So when I was little I tried to make a dandelion wreath for my head, but It never worked. So now I will share with you how to make a cheap daisy wreath that any little girl would love to wear. First I bought flowers at the dollar store then I took them apart. Then I took the metal stems and formed them into a circle to fit a persons head and ducked taped them together. Then I hot glued the leafs and flowers on it. This project cost me $ 2.00 and I still had leftover daisies for another project. Happy Crafting!

My brother's room is primed and ready to paint. I didn't realize how dark the green paint was until I primed.

Scrub's Cake

My brother loves the show Scrubs. So one year for his birthday I made him a scrubs cake. I lot of the time my cakes are put together based on what I could find. Originally I wanted to do a Dexter cake (cartoon), but it did not end up working. So I ended up looking at the toys and found a doctor's kit and the scrubs themed cake came together.

I first made a double layered round cake, frosting it, and did a shell border (tip 21). Then at the dollar general I found a child's play doctor kit with plastic toys, I also found gum shaped as bandages. I then printed out the picture and decorated the cake.

Bedroom Remodel

My brother is moving home for the summer and I am going to paint his room. My goal is to spend little or no money at all. We had the spackle to fill in the holes (caused by a badly placed dart board)  and leftover paint from a previous project.

Litter Mat

When my cat gets out of the litter box he leaps out and kicks litter everywhere. I look at litter mats, but they were expensive. So when my mother and I At Hobby Lobby I found self adhesive plastic sheets and I thought that it would make a perfect litter mat. The self adhesive plastic sheets are sticky one side and plastic on the other side. On the sticky side I put wrapping paper on it. Then I put another self adhesive plastic sheet so that the whole mat is water proof. This project cost only 2 dollars.

Cinderella Cake and Cupcakes

One day my mother and I were at a thrift store and found this cute Cinderella, Fairy Godmother and a horse and carriage background. As soon as I saw it  I had to have it and for one dollar I would be sorry later if I had not picked it up.  A few days latter I had to make a cake for a little girl's birthday party and I was glad I picked it up.

I first baked an oval cake and frosting it. Then I put a tip 21 (shell border tip) and did the border. Finally I took a small amount of frosting and mixed a lot of powdered sugar in it to make it the consistency where I could sculpt it. Then I made it the shape of pumpkins. For the Cupcakes I  frosting them with the tip 1m.

Anne of Green Gables A New Beginning tells the story of an older Anne as she recalls her life before she meets Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. This movie is definitely worth watching.

Breakfast Burritos

Why grab McDondald's when you can make your own breakfast burritos. These are a much healthier and cheaper option to fast food.

Onions
18 eggs
21 Whole Wheat Shells
4 Cans of Mushrooms
Shredded Cheese
1 Tube of Sausage

Chop onions and mushrooms and combine with beaten eggs. Chop and cook up the sausage. Then combine everything except the cheese and scramble the egg mixture over med-high heat. Fill the shells, add cheese, fold, and freeze. It is as easy as that.

Family Movie Night

This week's movie is the Gnome-Mobile. In my opinion this movie is perfect for getting you in the St. Patric's mood. This movie is about two children and their grandfather who find gnomes. It delivers a good time for anybody of any age.

Free Entertainment

We recently discontinued or satellite service to save money. The thing we noticed was that there is many other ways to find free entertainment. Hulu offers free full length videos that are entertaining and educational. Some shows on Hulu are Rick Steves Europe and NOVA. There are also classics like Bewitch, I Dream of Jeannie, and The Lone Ranger.  Often Channels like Disney, Nick, PBS, History Channel, and Syfy also have free full length videos. All it takes is a little research to find free entertainment.

Italian Buns

I used the bun recipe in my previous post. Here is the link http://cousezparfait.blogspot.com/2011/01/freezer-cooking_10.html. The only changes I made was I used all white flour, 1 teaspoon of extra olive oil, and I added 1 teaspoon of oregano, 1 teaspoon of basil, and 1 tablespoon of Parmesan cheese. Then let the dough rise.

I put ham, peperoni, and provolone on the buns and put it in the convection oven until the sandwich is hot. This will be your favorite sandwich from now on.

Pizza and a Movie

What would a Friday night be without a pizza and a movie? Well just about every weekend my dad makes a homemade pizza. The crust and sauce is made from scratch. As you can see in the second photo my dog always waits in hope that he will get scraps of pizza.

Now to the movie portion this week I recommend the tv series Cristy. Cristy is about a teacher that goes to teach at a backwoods mission. This is an excellent series that I highly recommend buying.

Valentine Paper Chain

As a child I love making paper chains (we had one for every holiday). This is pretty self explanatory craft you cut pieces of paper into strips and glue or tape them together. I used scrap book paper, but you could use construction paper.

Hello!

I hope you are all doing well on day two of our 30 day challenge. Hopefully you are all sore from exercising just like me ( what can I say misery loves company). I do realize that not everyone has the ability to go to the gym (I was lucky enough to find a treadmill for $20.00 at a garage sale last year), but there are many online resources that provide free exercise videos. Here is a link to a website that has free workout videos.  http://www.exercisetv.tv/workout-videos/ I hope you will share your experiences and Keep up the good work!!!!!!!

Almost Chicken Fried Rice

Almost Chicken Fried Rice is the name my lovely brother came up with. As I was cooking this dish which I believe is to be a healthy version of Chicken Fried Rice and my brother came in and asked what I was cooking. I said fried rice, my brother said this isn't fried rice. Then he said I know what you mean almost fried, virtually fried rice, well ok its not actually fried rice. He did change his tune after he tasted it.

What you will need
Boneless Skinless Chicken Brest
Brown Rice
Onions
Carrots
Corn
Soy sauce
Dijon Mustard
Chicken Broth

Boil up your brown rice as directed by the box. Cut boneless skinless chicken brests in to chunks and cook until done. The take low-sodium chicken broth and chop up carrots and onions and saute them until soft. Add cooked drained rice to the onion, carrot and broth mixture. Then add chicken, corn, 1 Tablespoon of soy sauce, 2 teaspoons of Dijon mustard. If dry add chicken broth.  This recipe can be changed, you could add cumin, peas, or make what ever size batch you want. Happy Cooking.

What I Love

I am love with this Fiskars paper cutter. I received it as a Christmas present and I do not know how I made cards without it! If you are looking for a paper cutter the Fiskars last long. The blade is replaceable and it has a side arm on it that allows to to measure large pieces of paper. This is a must buy!

Family Movie Night

I watched this movie so many times when I had my wisdom teeth out. So I thought this movie would be perfect for Family Movie Night.

Yours, Mine, and Ours takes place in 1968 when two widowed parents meet and fall in love. This movie shows the challenges, laughter, and rewards of combining their unique families.

New Website

As a child I always loved sewing. I enjoyed being able to think about what I wanted to make, cut out the fabric, and having a finished project. I always wanted to be able to sell my stuff, but I didn't know how to. Until recently I was selling items on etsy, but the site was overly crowded and I wasn't able to make as many sales. Now I am selling items on http://cousezparfait.bigcartel.com/. Come and visit! If you have any requests of things you want made contact me at jprice1291@yahoo.com.

:)

Yes it is finally done!!!!! The method I used to clean out my fabric box was to cut out the patterns I wanted to sew. Then I folded and stacked my fabric in the order I wanted to use it. So the stuff I will most likely use is on top.

Hobby Lobby

Sorry about the light it was not cooperating. I love Hobby Lobby, this scrapbook paper was 6 for a dollar on their clearance rack. As a rule I always keep scrapbook paper on hand  it makes cute cards and easy crafts.

Healthy Meatball Sandwich

This Meatball Sandwich is made with boneless skinless chicken breast, low fat mozzarella cheese, and a homemade roll (recipe on my blog).

I used my food processor and ground up the boneless skinless chicken breast and then added 1 teaspoon if Italian seasoning to it. I made them into meatballs and cooked them at 350 for 15-20 minutes.

I then took my homemade bun and hollowed out the center and put aldi brand spaghetti sauce in it. I love aldi's spaghetti sauce, because it is cheap and the ingredient list is simple. Then I topped it with meatballs and cheese. Enjoy!

Are you ready for a challenge?

To all of my readers I am sorry I have not been blogging. I had my wisdom teeth out and then suffered through the pain of two dry sockets. While I was recovering I was thinking what would be a fun activity to do on my blog? I thought that a 30 days to a healthier you challenge would be fun.

While I love the idea of getting healthy, I think many people including me lack the motivation and encouragement to get up and put down the bag of chips. The idea of this challenge is to set your own realistic goals that you want to achieve in 30 days. Please share these goals, I will post mine on Monday. I will be tweeting and blogging throughout this challenge to keep everyone motivated. So please come and join me in a 30 day challenge to become healthier. So come February 1 please start the challenge, tell friends and family to take part in this challenge. It is time to help you to help yourself to become healthy

Freezer Cooking

For today freezer cooking I made a homemade tv dinner. I made brown rice, cooked and chopped up pork chops and then added frozen stir fried vegetables from the store. I put it in one dish and froze it. Now whenever I want a pre made meal all I have to do is pull it out of the freezer. Say good bye to store bought t.v. dinners!

Valentines Day Craft

For most of my life I was home schooled and my parents tried to make the holidays special. So we would make homemade Valentines and Valentine Day decorations. So  For today's craft I made a door hanger/ Valentine.

I cut a heart our of card stock and cut a heart out of felt scraps. I added a pip cleaner as a handle. This craft can be customized. You can use buttons, fabric scraps, card stock, construction paper, or markers and stickers.
